The Presbyterian Church of Bloomingdale
Brandon, FL

PCUSA Seal

Our History

In 1984, the Southwest Florida Presbytery (presently the Presbytery of Tampa Bay) and several committed individuals had a vision of a new Presbyterian Church (USA) in Bloomingdale. A steering committee was appointed by the Presbytery (our governing body) which guided the development of the new church.
Our first meetings were held in the homes of prospective members. Our first worship service was held on August 10, 1986, at a local day care center with 46 people attending.
In May of 1987, we called an organizing pastor and, as we grew, we moved to larger facilities.
The Presbytery approved the organization of our church on April 29, 1989. We held our first worship service on May 21, 1989, which coincided with the 200th anniversary of our denomination. A ground-breaking service was celebrated at our present location on November 18, 1990. The first service at the present location was held on May 26, 1992.
We have been richly blessed and, with God's help, we will continue to grow in our ministry to others.
Our membership currently stands at about 100.
